Outfitting Days at the Calgary Flames Sports Bank 2025!

For the last few years, the Calgary Flames Sports Bank has been extremely fortunate to have been able to host Outfitting Day's at our offices.

What is an outfitting day?

On a typical day at the Flames Sports Bank, we help 10-15 families a day, by making an appointment, to get their children the sports equipment they need to play all the sports they love. On an outfitting day we see anywhere between 20-50 kids within a 4–5-hour window in one day. Outfitting days are some of our favorite days at the Flames Sports Bank. There is a lot of work that goes into planning one of these days, but it is 100% worth it when the day comes, and we help so many kids and see all their smiling faces leaving the Flames Sports Bank with all the gear they need to play.

This is in large part to many of our fantastic partners including Calgary Sports and Entertainment Corporation (CSEC), Calgary Flames Foundation, Flames Alumni, The Calgary Wranglers, Teine Energy Ltd, STEP Energy Services, SLB, Sanjel, Paramount, Kids Cancer Care, Salvation Army, and so many more.

These partners not only help us financially but also donate their time to help outfit the kids in the gear they need. Without these groups volunteering, these days simply wouldn't happen.

During 2025, we have been lucky to have hosted 7 different outfitting days at the Calgary Flames Sports Bank. During these 7 days we were able to help 204 kids and distribute 1,792 pieces of equipment for free.

How did we get the equipment?

Well, a big thank you goes out to our partner with the Wood Automotive Group for collecting gear at their 9 different car dealerships, located throughout Calgary and Okotoks. Also, we have hosted several equipment drives with other teams, partners, and groups, all of whom have helped us throughout the year.  We also collect equipment at our offices all year round. Thanks to some fantastic partners and donors we were able to purchase equipment when needed including brand new helmets for hockey, lacrosse and ringette players.

How can you get involved?

There are many ways you can get involved at the Calgary Flames Sports Bank. You can donate equipment. You can host an equipment drive with your children's team. You can donate financially through our webpage so we can purchase more equipment when needed. You or your company can sponsor one of our outfitting days, and have some volunteers come in and help with the day itself. There are so many ways you can help us have more of these types of days in 2026 and make sure we have the best equipment possible to give to kids in need.
